ORGANIZED BY: Horizon Institute of Entrepreneurship Development and international partners
The Green Skills Bootcamp was a 5-day international training and exchange experience that brought together young people from across Europe and Africa to learn how to take action for the planet and their communities.
Held in Diani, Kenya, this dynamic program empowered youth to explore sustainability, develop green and digital skills, and become leaders of local change. The Bootcamp focused on helping participants understand climate challenges, create environmental campaigns, and build confidence as young community influencers.
What Did Participants Do?
- Workshops on sustainability and climate action
- Training in public speaking, leadership, and social media
- Study visits to local eco-friendly enterprises in Nairobi
- Teamwork sessions to develop green projects for their communities
- Cultural exchanges and networking with peers from 8 countries
Each day combined creative group work, expert talks, and hands-on activities — from planning digital campaigns to pitching green business ideas. The focus was not just on learning, but on applying new skills immediately through real-world simulations
What Happens Next?
After the Bootcamp, each national team will return home and launch their own community-based sustainability project. These activities may include:
- Local awareness events
- Social media campaigns (Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
- Flash mobs and creative performances
- Roundtable discussions with youth and local leaders
The goal is to spread green knowledge, inspire action, and build a stronger, more sustainable future — one youth-led idea at a time.
Why it matters?
This Bootcamp is part of a larger European-African cooperation project aimed at helping young people:
- Gain green and entrepreneurial skills
- Become changemakers in their communities
- Learn from diverse cultures and perspectives
- Prepare for careers in the environmental sector
By combining non-formal education, intercultural learning, and practical action, the Bootcamp proves that youth can be powerful drivers of change when given the right tools and opportunities.
